NCA Hosts Ericsson Delegation to Deepen Collaboration on Industry Innovation

May 15, 2025. The National Communications Authority (NCA) hosted a six-member delegation from Ericsson at the NCA Tower in Accra to explore opportunities for collaboration on emerging innovations in the communications industry.

Welcoming the delegation, Rev. Ing. Edmund Y. Fianko, Ag. Director General of the NCA, reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to continuous stakeholder engagement. He noted that as part of efforts to strengthen the regulatory environment, the NCA will soon initiate a public consultation on the Managed Services Licence, a sector in which Ericsson is a key stakeholder, inviting input to promote inclusivity and ensure industry stability.

Speaking at the meeting, Majda Lahlou Kassi, Vice President and Head of Customer Unit  of West and Southern Africa, emphasised Ericsson’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for telecommunications in Ghana. She highlighted the company’s support for the “One Million Coders” initiative, launched by the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation (MoCDTI), as a significant step toward digital skill-building and empowerment.

On the future of telecommunications, Majda underscored the transformative potential of 5G technology, describing it as a key milestone in innovation. “5G is not just about faster internet it’s a platform for entirely new use cases that have not yet entered the market. We are eager to support Ghana’s journey in deploying 5G in a way that balances innovation, stability, and local interest,” she said.

The team consisted of Fabrizio Cara, Head of Cloud Services, Richard Kweku Arthur, Country Manager, Badr Ndor, Head of Networks, and Rostand Njomgang, Director at Ericsson.
